FORUM Connemara promotes, assists and engages in social and

enterprise development in the Connemara region.

FORUM Connemara is a local development company,
supporting Community, Rural Development and the Local Environment.

FORUM Connemara is a partnership company which has representatives on the Board of Directors from the local community, the social pillars, the local authority and statutory agencies.

FORUM delivers a number of programmes of behalf of Government Departments and other agencies including the Rural Development Programme (LEADER), the Youth & Adolescent Support Programme, the Rural Recreational Programme, the Rural Social Scheme and Labour activation programmes Tús, Job Initiative, and Community Employment, the Dúlra Project and the WorkAbility Programme.

The catchment area covered by the FORUM partnership faces many challenges and opportunities in terms of realising sustainable development objectives over the coming years. Much of the territory is structurally weak, with poor connectivity, a low level of demographic vitality and a narrow economic base. Structural weaknesses are most profound in the north, west and centre of the territory, where there is a high level of dependence on small-scale farming/fishing and seasonal employment. However, the territory also has a unique, valuable physical environment allied with a strong sense of identity and culture.

FORUM Connemara complies with the Charities SORP and the Charities Governance Code. We are committed to using best practices to deliver the best results for the region.
