Forum Connemara CLG. is delivering the ‘Want to Work’ programme in Connemara.

The ‘Want to Work’ programme works towards building an inclusive workforce by supporting people with Disabilities or Mental Health Conditions.
This project was approved by Government with support from the Dormant Accounts Fund.

What does ‘Want to Work’ aim to do?

The ‘Want to Work’ Project aims to work with people with disability and mental health conditions to improve their chances of gaining
employment and in improving their employment / education, training and volunteering opportunities. 

How can the ‘Want to Work’ project help? It can: 

  • Encourage and support participants to gain employment;

  •  Improve employment options through education and training;

  • Support participants in finding volunteering and work experience;

  • Provide mentoring and support through Employment Guidance;

  • Support potential employers to provide employment for People with Disabilities.

 


How do we work?

‘Want to Work’ Project Workers and Job Coaches work in a person-centred way.

This means looking at participants’ ideas, interests, abilities, needs and potential while working with them to identify and set achievable objectives and goals.

The project will provide core employment skills training such as Manual Handling, Health and Safety in the Workplace, Covid Induction training and a bespoke ‘World of Work’ employment skills training programme.

‘Want to Work’ will also offer industry tailored training e.g. Safe Pass, First Aid, HACCP, Pesticide Spraying etc.

Who is ‘Want to Work’ for?

The project works with participants who are 18+, who have a disability or a mental health condition.

Note: Participants will need to have reached an education level of NFQ Level 3 or higher in order to take full advantage of the
supports offered through FORUM Connemara ‘Want to Work’ Project.

Who funds the ‘Want to Work’ project?

This project is funded through the measure to ‘Support the Employment of People with Disabilities’ (PWD) under the
Dormant Accounts Fund (DAF) Action Plan for 2021 by the Department of Social Protection.

Forum Connemara CLG manages one of 45 projects in Ireland, operating from Sept 2021-Dec 2022


Minister for Disability Anne Rabbitte officially launched FORUM Connemara's “Want to Work” programme on, Monday 17th January.
